While the decision to grant a visa is solely DIAC’s, you can maximise your chances of success
by using a registered migration agent.
The advantages of using an AVAM registered migration agent include:
SUCCESS - your AVAM registered migration agent is a fully qualified professional who will
advise you of all your visa options and help you decide which one offers you the best
chance of success.
EXPERIENCE - your AVAM registered migration agent has extensive migration expertise and
regularly attends professional development activities to ensure they can provide the most up
to date advice and information to you.
HONESTY - your AVAM registered migration will only undertake cases that have the highest
possible chance of success, they will not apply for visas that you are ineligible for and waste
your money.
TIMELY - your AVAM registered migration agent will process your application in the shortest
possible time.
PRICE - your AVAM registered migration agent competitively prices their services and will
provide you with a clear and simple quotation, which includes all relevant DIAC charges
and other taxes and fees. This is a fixed cost quote, with no hidden extras.
The Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA) regulates the migration
profession in Australia and registers migration agents. Immigration advice
and assistance may only be given by a registered migration agent in Australia.
Australian registered migration agents are bound by the MARA Code of Conduct which
requires them to act in the lawful best interests of their clients. (MARA Code of Conduct).
The MARA also requires Australian registered migration agents to maintain professional
indemnity insurance and to undertake annual professional development to remain up to
date with the latest migration developments and changes.
Agents operating from outside Australia are not required to be registered and may not meet
MARA’s high professional standards. The migration system is constantly changing, new visas
are introduced, other visas phased out and conditions attached to visas altered.
It can be almost impossible for the layperson to navigate this maze.
Don’t believe us? Have a look at the DIAC website www.immi.gov.au
DIAC does not require you to use a migration agent, but if you do they encourage you to
use a registered migration agent. The registration of an Australian migration agent and any
professional sanctions that may have been imposed on them can be checked at the MARA
Agents Register (MARA Agents Register).
